  1. I liked King Lear and Richard III. I always loved dark stories more than ones that revolve too much around love.
  2. Maybe you should pick up a different genre? or watch a movie or series version of the book before reading it. You may just be picking up books that are not as interesting as you thought they were.
  3. My first was Alice in Wonderland. I was really young at the time so I couldn't understand the deeper meaning nor the the symbolism of it but I definitely enjoyed reading that book.
  4. I would second Anne Frank's Diary, it was a very good book filled with the emotion of a younger girl. It was quite sad to realize the reality of it though.
  5. Sherlock Holmes. I always found him to be one of the best characters I've ever read I grew up reading his books and now I'm playing games of Sherlock Holmes and watching movies and series too. :shy:
  6. Google Translation sucks, especially with Asian languages. Whenever I try to google translate anything from English to my mother tongue and vise versa, I always end up dying with laughter. Not like I can complain with it being free though.
  7. Since pre-school. The Philippines has a mandatory English language subject since pre-school until College. Basically as long as you're in school, you'll have to attend English classes.
  8. This is actually pretty common in our country to the point that we have an official name for it. We call it Taglish lit. Tagalog-English. Personally I don't mean to use it but there are some words in English that I can't say or don't know in Tagalog, so I end up using English words instead.
  9. This happens to me all the time and to make matters worse I didn't even know I forgot what the word is until I needed to write a paper for school. LOL! It's weird when you have to ask your professor to translate from English to your language and you get asked if you didn't live in your country since you were young and you actually grew there and have never left the country since birth. LOL!
  10. This question is fun! I would say Latin, the old one. How awesome would that sound if you were to start swearing in Latin and people would think you're possessed.
  11. I do this with Japanese and Korean songs. I think I learn them faster this way cause I've always been the type to memorize quicker when I sing them in a tone. :shy:
  12. Focusing on reviewing notes is never easy to do, especially for those people who are like me and has no interest in tossing extra time in reviewing notes at home. But if I feel like I really need to study then I just tell myself that I should just suffer for a little bit rather than repeat the grade again and suffer longer. :bored:
  13. French sounds really sexy... on the other hand British standard sounds very regal. I like both of them a lot but I lean more towards British standard. There's something about their accent that makes it delightful to hear.
  14. I don't really open dictionaries when I see uncommon words. I use it in context and in a way I "get" what they mean, but if I really can't get it then that's the time that I bust out a dictionary and look it up. This happens pretty rarely though.
  15. "It's never too late to be what you might have been." - George Eliot "Imagination rules the world." - Napoleon Bonaparte "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." - Oscar Wilde These are the ones that I always remember well. I seem to remember Mark Twain has a quote about dogs but I can't remember how it goes.
