  1. What works for me is that I watch movies or tv shows. I also listen to music. There are many free websites that can be used for practice test. Lastly I try to read my notes. After a while of not using the language there are many words that I can't recall. Even in a break, it is important to put even a small time in using it. like watching or listening to a music. That will make a big difference.

  2. I am learning German, according to my teacher genitiv is rarely used, compare to the other three cases. But it's still good to learn about it. Learning new language is not really easy but it can be fun at the same time.

  3. I know how to speak english. I am still learning German. I don't know but I feel I'm too slow in learning this language. The problem now is that I stop attending classes because of my work and I don't have someone I can talk to everyday. I used to talk to my cousin before but she move to other country so It is very seldom that we talk because of out busy schedules and the time difference.

  4. Most people consider English as their second language. I don't know what is the reason why someone can easily say that English is not important. I been going from one place to another and by doing so I can say that not all those countries I been through are english speaking countries but my travel is easier because of english. It connects me with other person. It helps me to understand and learn more about other people, their cultures and more. I feel that it is important to learn this language.

  5. I know that it is really hard to keep motivated in doing something, not just in learning new language but as well as learning or doing other things. I guess, in learning new language. I always look for ways that I think effective for me. I want to have some fun while learning. For instance, I make my own mnemonics if I have to memorize or if I want remember new words.

  6. I have a cousin who is half german and half filipino. His german blood is more dominant in terms of his physical appearance. Everytime he visits Philippines, when I introduce him to new friends they are always shy or afraid to talk to him. Since they assumed that he doesn't know how to speak tagalog. It's funny that when he speak tagalog, you can see how shocked they are. My cousin can speak tagalog, german, english and italian.

  7. The main reason why we learn new language is for better communication. We all know that not everybody can speak English, so to learn a new language aside from English, is really helpful. It makes some things easier, like traveling to different countries and being able to speak their language, watching foreign movies without using a subtitles. These are just some of the benefits of learning a new language.

  8. When I moved to US to work, the first few weeks were hard, at that time I feel shy to speak because I don't use english everyday. I can tell that my accent is very different from them, but as the days go by, I got used to it and somehow adapted how they speak. I don't have a problem with it anymore.

  9. Im using taglish personally. It comes out naturally, Maybe because english is our second language and we been learning it since we were kids. It is a part of our life.  I been speaking english in my work so sometime when I talk to my friends I can't help it but mix the two.I know some who speak taglish because they want to project being SOSYAL (elegant) that is what I don't like about it. If you hear someone speaking in taglish, you can easily say if it's natural to her or just pretending or just showing off.I guess it depends on who is using and how it's been used.

  10. Well my Tagalog is quite rusty but I remember there is a word to show politeness that they tag on to almost every sentence; "po" or "ho", when speaking with strangers or with their elders. It really does not have an English translation and Filipino speakers often use "Sir/Madam" when they speak English in order to replace "po/ho" but it sounds a bit stilted and just unnatural in English!

I experienced that thing. During my first few weeks in my work in the US, I call my co workers sir/ma'am and they find it really wierd. They are used in calling by names only, but in the philippines we call ma'am /sir to our co workers as a sign of respect.

  11. For me learning new languages is very helpful. Working in a foreign country, I can communicate with different people. It makes my work easier and effectively. I also select learning the language that i think ca be useful for me, not just any language that I know I won't be really using in the future. So for me, learning multiple languages is really worth it.
