  1. Yes definitely. Sometimes I'm mad at myself for not taking advantage of all the opportunities that were handed out to me. Learning a language used to feel like a drag in school but I wish I had just pushed myself. And now all these private lessons are so expensive. Most of the time I usually go online and try to teach myself as much as I can. It's really time consuming though.

  2. One of the most embarrassing situation that I can think of is when there was a big meeting in school. This was the time I was learning English. So during the meeting, I had to pee really bad but I didn't know how to say "bathroom", "toilet" or "restroom". I thought I could  hold it in but I couldn't so while I ran out of the room I said really loudly, "YELLOW WATER". Good times.

  3. I started learning English at a very young age, possible 4 or 5. I hated every minute of it though. I remember entering first grade and not knowing a single word in English. It was a really rough couple of months and I used to cry every day going to school. I got made fun at but I slowly learnt it and I picked it up quite fast. Before I knew it, I didn't want to go home from school.

  4. I always find it super fun to learn a new language by watching a movie. I know Korean dramas are really popular and the only one I've watched (well, a couple of episodes) is Boys over Flowers. This seems to be a very popular one. Oh I also watched 2 episodes of Good Doctors. I would love any recommendation on any korean drama or movie. Preferably one that I can find with subtitles. :)

  5. I've heard of them before but never really listened to them. My friends are such K-pop fans and they're always playing them. I remember I dance to this one song, I can't remember the name or the artist but it goes like this, "GGGG baby baby". I think it's quite popular and I had so much fun doing the dance.

  6. The only people I've told that i'm learning Korean to are my Korean friends so everybody seems to be really excited. They've all been so encouraging. I've been teaching English and correcting their grammar for years now (we all went to the same boarding school) so now that they're fluent in English, I'm trying to learn their language for a change. The pronunciation seems to be the hardest part in learning Korean for me.

  7. Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here! :)

I just checked out your blog, it looks really great. I'm going to bookmark this. I have a lot of Korean friends and they've been trying to teach the language to me. Annyeong haseyo, Utdukee jineshuseyo? (not sure if I spelt any of these right!) I know a few words here and there and yes, the swear words too. Haha.

Welcome again and see you around!

  8. I've personally never tried this myself but a friend of mine tutors English, not through skype specifically but some other messenger (not sure which anymore). She specifically teaches Korean students from 10 to 40 years. She was trying to get me into the programme a few months ago. I'll give it a go next year and let you guys know more about it.

  9. Hello everyone,

As you might know i'm trying to learn Hindi and I always found that movies have really helped me in the past when I was learning Spanish. Could you suggest some good bollywood movies to help my Hindi and improve my vocabulary as well as a fun movie to watch? I would really appreciate it.

  10. So sorry to hear about this but I do find it weird that he isn't trying to teach you. There are a lot of spanish websites you could go to. I would also learning about 10 vocabulary words everyday and this strategy helped me a lot because at the end of the week, I knew 70 more words :D. Watch a lot of Spanish movies too! Ofcourse with subtitles and it'll really help you.

  11. I'm interested in trying out using a site like this too. I just registered at iWriter yesterday and right now they didn't seem to need any articles in any subject suiting me, perhaps in the future. Textbroker seems interesting as well but as a swede I suppose I'm not able to register at any of their sites.

Does anyone know any other sites like these that might be worth looking up?

You could try freelancer, elance, odesk, fiverr, and bubblews. I've used all of these in the past and think they're great. Give it a try. :) Good luck!

  12. How old is your baby?

Kids usually pick up languages faster than adults and so you wouldn't even really need to enrol her into a programme or make her sit down. You can talk to her in English and your husband can do the same with his mother tongue. I know a kid whose dad can speak Kannada and Nepali and her mother can speak Hindi and Korean. This is not including English. Now she already knows all those 5 languages. They just simply communicate with her with all these languages. She doesn't have to learn 1 language at a time and then go for the next one. She can learn it all at once. :D

  13. This is from The Fault In Our Stars by John Green but I think it can still represent ones love for a child.

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once".

And this is by Nicholas Sparks,

"You are, and always have been, my dream"

And this is by Robert Frost

"We love the things we love for what they are"

  14. I once watched a show wherein a character was described as one who hated the word "moist", which I found very amusing mostly because it did not peeve me that much, but I know that if it did then I would be terribly annoyed when it was mentioned too. That said, it's partly what gave me the idea that this trait is more universal than I originally thought when I was assuming that it was just me who experienced these types of annoyances.

Hey are you talking about the show How I Met Your Mother where Lily hates the word "moist"? :D Great show by the way, i'm really sad it's ending soon.

But anyway, yes some words just give me this unusually bad feeling and I hate it. I hate the words "slither" and "succulent". I can't explain why but I just do when people say it.
