  1. I moved to Canada when I was young so yes, English is a huge part of our education here. When I moved here from my native country I did have a tough time fitting in but I had a lot of caring teachers who took extra time out of their lives afterschool and before school along with ESL (English as a Secondary Language) classes that helped me significantly.

  2. I've read somewhere that 'learnt’ is more common in British English, and ‘learned’ in American English. So does that mean American English rarely use 'learnt' in writing?  :confused:

    Yes, I write in American English and I have to say I don't use 'learnt' much.

  3. 4 Pictures 1 Word is an Android game where you are shown 4 pictures with a common theme and you have to guess the word that connects them. It really gets you thinking and sometimes it's not as straightforward as you think . As someone that is a native speaker, I still find certain levels difficult. This  app won't make you speak fluently, but it will definitely help you to expand your vocabulary. It's free to download from the Google Play store so give it a shot if you have an Android phone.

    I just bought an Android the other day. I downloaded it and I have to say it is pretty fun to play around with.

  4. movies with english subtitles help in improving or not..? or regional movies with english subtitles works..?

    I think they will help you if you understand what the movie is about. Try to watch something easy like a romantic comedy or a cliche movie. This way you already know what the story is going to be about, but at the same time you're practicing by looking at the subtitles. This is part of the reason cartoons with subtitles help people learn languages easily

  5. I would like to share some of my favourite English quotes with you here. Mostly inspirational quotes…it’s incredible how much motivation a quote can give you…don’t you think so? Just a few words…but sometimes really powerful! I am not going to mention the author of the specific quotes…there is no special reason for that. Feel free to post your favorite quotes AND the author if you feel like :=)

    Aha this is a good one. I think my favorite quote of all time is:

    "The only way to win, is not to play"

    This ties into a lot of emotional and physical situations what we find ourselves in a lot of the time. Sometimes when you feel angry or sad, you have to remember. "The only way to win, is not to play". Just let it go. The only way to feel better, is not to care. The only way to feel better, is to stop feeling bad and just feel better.

    It's easier said than done. But it is one of the building blocks to a happy life.

  6. How do you feel before an exam? Are you the type who stresses a lot or are you pretty relaxed before an exam? If you are a person who stresses, are able to overcome it, if yes, how do you do that?

    I have always stressed over exams. No matter what type of exam, I was never able to overcome the feeling of stress, I would get nauseous and nobody was able to get a word out and this is why I failed a lot of them  :laugh: Anyway, how do you handle situations like this?

    I used to be very scared because I'd always worry I'd missed something. But then I'd be scared of answering questions wrong simply because I was scared. And the fear would feed the fear itself. It was a terrible cycle. I'm better off now because now I have a cycle/studying regime that I follow religiously before a test.
