  1. Gee, did not expect this much buzz around my beehive!

Seems people get extremely interested in Spanish and French. Spanish particularly.

Guess both are rather beautiful languages, and also common. French, you have access to France, canada, etc. Spanish, you get Spain, Mexico, etc.

  2. I'm curious, what is it about my post which makes you think I'm not calm??, lol. I'm just stating fact. That is very presumptuous of you I must say, considering you don't know me from Adam.

First of all, you did sound a little upset. And I do know you from Adam. My posts were two separate posts. Anyway, lets let bygones be bygones.

I agree Ariana. Japanese does sound extremely professional. Complicated, too!

Yes, some aspects of french are a little nasal, but a true, elegant french sounds delicious to the ears. English, I don't associate to be very posh, as I live in an area not-too-rife with beautiful speech  :bored: However, I see what you mean. Michael Caine for the win!

  3. Hasn't a thread like this been made like 5000 times before? Haha...

I'll just say what I've said in every other thread like this:

I started learning english because it's part of the curriculum. Really, that's it.

I started learning german because it's part of the curriculum. Yep, that too. (I did have a choice between Spanish, French and German, but you HAD to pick one.)

I started learning Japanese because I'm heavily interested in japanese culture and entertainment. My goal is to be able to watch drama/anime, read novels/manga/visual novels, in japanese. I have no intention of speaking the language myself, but those skills might be picked up on anyway.

Yes, unfortunately I just made one like this, not realising it existed.

I don't really have a reason for learning an individual language. I just wanted to learn a language, and I happened to have a few Russian tapes lying around. Same reason I'm learning Polish next :P

  4. Mmm... thats a toughy.

I'd say Hebrew, because learning possibilities are quite minimal, and only a few rare languages are anywhere near hebrew. English isn't like it. Russian isn't like it. Heck, turkish isn't like it. It is very unique. Even the asian languages, I watched enough kung fu films to get used to the feel.

But Hebrew, I would say is the toughest for me.

    Oh man, Taa...  :amazed:

  5. I recently posted a thread in site suggestions on possibly giving polish a place on this site. I was told if enough people got interested, it might get some thought.

I am not studying it at the moment, but is anyone interested?

  6. Hi guys, just a newbie here.

I noticed down at the bottom there were many languages, but not polish. How about we change that?

    Why?

    1) Wouldn't you love to walk into a polish deli and actually understand the ingredients?

    2) There are many polish in the west.

    3) On a selfish note, I shall be learning polish at some point

So why not! We are all linguaholics here, correct?

  7. Thanks both of you for your kind reply :)

Looking forward to learning with all of you, languages are more than just a hobby to me. I am amazed to see that many of you on this forum study 2 languages at a time!

I am almost through my foundation course, so should be getting more serious very soon.

Thankyou for the links, linguaholic. they shall be bookmarked very soon!

    Dance on, Lady!

  8. Hi There

I am a young man with a passion for language learning. I wish to speak, read and understand many languages, over the period of my life.

I am hoping to enjoy learning and growing in this community of linguaholics! Currently learning Russian with the Michel Thomas Method, and will soon be moving onto Polish.

I will then be learning arabic, sadly without michel thomas  :sweating:

I hope we shall all learn together.

    Sincerely,

    Quicklearner. A.K.A. Quick.
