Writing Short Dialogues to Learn Languages

Does anyone write short dialogues and then act them out? I have a friend who does that. And she says it really works. It helps with spelling, grammar, pronunciation, as well as conversation skills. What do you think? Would you try it?

I got a lot better at my Chinese through writing out dozens, if not hundreds of essays throughout my school years. Although, I have learned a lot of the basics of speaking already and I did start at a very young age, so I'm not sure which one proves to be better to start out with, but I assume that writing and speaking lessons do help each other out quite a bit. Visualizing what you are intending to learn to speak definitely helps.

My Japanese professor assigned us a textbook that includes short dialogues in at the beginning of every chapter. It's plenty helpful! You get to apply what you've learned to a real life situation.

No, I haven't done that yet, but I guess it would be indeed quite effective if I tried it. It would be weird talking to yourself though, especially when you're reciting some dialogues.

My teacher made us do it all the time, but I never really saw the point back. Even back then, it seemed so mundane and useless. Trying to READ conversations written by other people, on the other hand..
