Which dictionary app do you use? [ENGLISH-JAPANESE]

Some time ago I decided that I should get a dictionary app for my mobile phone, so I asked my Japanese class and they recommended me JED. It's a free Japanese-English and English-Japanese dictionary and a kanji dictionary as well.

You can find it here:

What dictionary app do you use?

I have always been using the "japanese" dictionary app and would definitely recommend it to anybody. As far as I can remember it is not free of charge but the app is superb so you shouldn't mind to spend a few bucks on it :=)

I've been looking for a good Japanese dictionary app to use on my phone and tablet. I was given a few recommendations in the past, but I don't remember what they were. Right now, I just use Denshi Jisho ( http://jisho.org ) on my PC. I thought it was a godsend when I came across it.

I use JED as well, and have tried others, but have found JED to be far superior to anything else. Well, at least when it comes to Android apps. It is so simple to use and to find the words you're looking for as well as kanji and good example sentences. It's really great if you can get some kind of kanji recognition app as well. I use the GO keyboard which you can install an additional Japanese input mode for, as well as the Chinese character add-on. Then you can trace kanji and it will recognize it, and you can input that into JED and find any kanji. It's a perfect combo.

I love "imiwa?" which used to be called "kotoba" on ios devices. Not only you can look up words in hiragana, katakana, english - romanised Japanese also works! On top of this, you can tap the 部 icon above the keyboard to insert kanji by the radical. I stopped carrying my denshi jisho (electronic dictionary) around cos of this app :)

Also it downloads the entire database so I don't need to access internet!

JED is probably the best and most recommended app for Japanese dictonaires. I use it when I need a quick translation or when I need to know the correct stroke order for my Kanjis.

When I'm on the computer though, I like to use http://jisho.org/. The page runs fast, it's easy to use, and it provides multiple translations when possible.

I just downloaded a new Japanese dictionary app called Jsho. I like it a lot. It's easy to use and has enough information. They also tell you how to write Kanji properly (stroke order is provided). I think it's a great app to have. Best of all, you don't need to connect to the internet to use this app. That's great for me since there's no wifi in my dorm room.

When I used to study my hiragana I found JED to be the most useful dictionary particularly because of the pronunciation as opposed to simple translations.
