Love for Language

My first language other than English was Spanish.  We had to take a foreign language class in school and I was kind of forced into it because my school didn't offer any other languages.  It took about a week and I fell in love with it.  I couldn't get enough of learning and figuring out the different phrases and sounds that were there.

English - it is part of my country's education so no choice really  But I loved it. When I finally able to read my Archie comics without a dictionary, that was when I fully realized the benefit of being knowledgeable in a foreign language. My next target is Japanese by the way.

I always liked having conversations with people from all over the world and from every walk of life. I also like reading and writing. So it's only natural that I need to know different languages for that purpose. :)

I grew up bilingual, speaking German and Serbo-Croatian. Later I learnt English and French, and a couple of years ago it became necessary and a pleasure to add Spanish to the list, after meeting my Latin American partner. I guess I have always been a language enthusiast.

I became a language enthusiast in high school. I started doing Spanish for the first time. We had such a great teacher who would go beyond the syllabus and that really drew my attention to the language. When she spoke she was so fluent and I thought that if my teacher being a local could do it,then  I could too .

My mom says that I was talking before I could walk. She claims that I was conversing in sentences before I was one year old so if I'm to believe her, it seems that my love for language and communicating was innate. Of course, she might also just be exaggerating.  :wacky:
