I agree. Reading is helpful but it depends on the type of material. If the focus is on grammar improvement, news articles and magazines are better sources since the sentences are grammatically correct and more technical in nature. However, if you want to improve on the use of words with expressions and widen the vocabulary and storytelling, novels and story books are better. Overall, it depends which skills you want to focus on. This is just based on my perspective.
