I must say that movies have really improved my English. I've learnt a lot of vocabularies through movies and also how to place my words correctly so that they come out well in a manner that people can understand me better.

I would say all languages are valuable to learn, it all depends on your needs and reasons for learning that language. If you have to learn a certain language because of a job then that language is more valuable to you than others. If you have to learn a certain language so as to communicate well with your girlfriend then that language is more important to you than all.

I will use language learning apps since these are easy to acquire and there are options. but if ask if between the two, which one is more effective for me, I would say the real life teacher. The proper pronunciation can be more emphasized.

I'd also go for a language learning app for now because it's easier to get and also cheaper in the long run. Plus a learning app is convenient because I can practice at any time. Although if you're very serious about a new language, say because of a job I'd rather you go for a real life teacher as you'll most likely learn faster.

I think it's a good thing. I tried learning Chinese when I lived in China. I at least got down plenty of basics, so I could get around my city in a taxi, and do fine in a shop or restaurant. I'm focusing on Spanish more right now, and I want to travel some within Latin America. But I'm also from the U.S. and Spanish is very useful here without leaving home too.

I agree with you on this. It's good to know the basics of a language if you're planning on traveling to a foreign country. Call it survival skills. You wouldn't want to be stuck in a place full of foreigners who can't understand your language and you have an urgent need. Say you're hungry and you want to ask for food.

I love to hear someone speak with a strong British accent. I remember watching, Sherlock, the TV series and apart from the plot I liked the way the characters spoke with a British accent.

We all know that juicy/interesting titles always make us feel like grabbing that magazine/newspaper and get to know the whole story. But in these interesting titles there are usually specific words that do the magic. For example a title with the word "secret", always catches my attention. I'd like to know what words catch your attention most in headlines/titles.

Foreign movies with subtitles are very helpful in understanding a movie better. I remember watching a movie called Apocalypto which was acted in a foreign language but I did understand it well and I still consider it as one of my all-time favorite movies.

I'm also a victim of using "lol" especially when chatting online because I think it easily expresses my feelings towards a funny sentence/situation. There's never been a better way of expressing my "happy" emotions!

Being able to speak and be understood is a great part of communication, If your audience/listeners can't understand you, then you won't deliver your message. I, on my part do really care about what others think about the way I speak. If my listeners think of me highly then that equates to me speaking well.

A favorite of mine from the late Nelson Mandela as regards language, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart"

I've always had trouble spelling the word:commission. I sometimes omit one 'm'. Sounds weird, but it just happens at times

Online tutorials are definitely worth it especially if they are well written and elaborative. The addition of videos also makes them interesting and easier to understand.

I am generally a fast reader especially when reading literature just for entertainment, for example a novel. But when it comes to reading for an exam I tend to crawl through the pages, at least so that the information can sink in.

It's definitely not a norm to start to start a sentence with  conjunctions like "and", "but". Though most bloggers and online writers say it is okay to start a sentence with a conjunction. What is your take on this?

Exams are usually determiners of what you have learnt and they also decide whether you will go to the next level or get that nice certificate, so I usually tend to be a bit scared when exams are around the corner.  But if am well prepared on a subject, then my confidence levels always go high and I don't get anxious or scared.
