  1. I think I'm probably more like you. When I text, I tend to use perfect English and grammar (grandmother was an English teacher). I do use "LOL" a lot though. Probably more than I should and mostly at inopportune moments. And like you, people who use bad grammar and no punctuation and way too many acronyms in their texts...really bothers me...I would be embarrassed if it was me because I feel like it would make me look like an idiot to whoever read the text.

  2. I think that the answer to this question really depends on what type of a learner you are. There are those who are mind-learners, who can read or hear instructions, and grasp the concept easily. Then there are those like myself who are visual learners, who, no matter how many times they read or hear words, they will never grasp the concept. These visual learners must be shown how to do what they are learning, or they need to see someone else do it so that they can visualize the concept of what they are being taught. Generally these learners while somewhat unorthodox, tend to be more creative, visual and artistic in their thinking. For these learners, I would think that, like myself, tutorials would be extremely helpful. Honestly, online tutorials are how I have taught and still continue to teach myself pretty much everything. I see a tutorial and can instantly do what is being taught. So for me personally, I would have to say yes, online tutorials are definitely effective.

  3. :clown: I totally overuse LOL, and in the worst ways possible. Like saying "LOL" where it doesn't belong, or when I'm nervous about what someone will say to what I'm saying. . . Example: "I accidentally ran over your cat this morning and it's dead lol." it is absolutely awful and I'm trying to fix that because oh my goodness the look on someone's face must be priceless when you say "I was so sorry to hear about your mom...I hope your family is doing okay lol" yeah...it's not pretty.

  4. I would like to share some of my favourite English quotes with you here. Mostly inspirational quotes…it’s incredible how much motivation a quote can give you…don’t you think so? Just a few words…but sometimes really powerful! I am not going to mention the author of the specific quotes…there is no special reason for that. Feel free to post your favorite quotes AND the author if you feel like :=)

“Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.”

“There is no dishonor in losing the race. There is only dishonor in not racing because you are afraid to lose.”

    1 Corinthians 13:4-8

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([a]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth]."
