  1. This a difficult answer that probably  depends on the language you are learning. In Russian, for exemple, students must learn a new alphabet (printed or handwriting). Also, Russians don't pronounce as they write. For exemple, sometimes the letter "o" is pronounced as /a/, as well as the letters "e" and "a" are sometimes pronounced as /i/.
