I haven't tried to learn a fictional language but I think if you have a lot of spare time it might be interesting and a different challenge from learning a non-fictional language.

Learning one language is hard enough so I can't think how hard it would be to learn two at a time. I think if you want to learn two languages you should learn them one after the other.

I definitely forget some of the more confusing words in my native language. Sometimes it's really hard to remember the right word to use especially if you're trying to explain something.
-
I would say my top five are:
1. Japanese
2. Italian
3. French
4. Russian
5. German

If you like fantasy I would definitely recommend Lord Of The Rings. Another good choice is The Hobbit which is a prequel to Lord Of The Rings and is a lighter read so is good for people not fluent in English.

There are a lot of uncommon idioms from Australia, for example if you say you're "Up a gum tree" it means that you're in a bit of trouble. Idioms like these aren't actually used in Australia these days so it's very common for people to not have heard of them or understand them.

I think it's just a matter of practice, many native English speakers don't know the difference and usually use the wrong word so I wouldn't stress too much over it.
-
Even if it's usually not completely accurate sometimes I find it useful, it's better than not having a translation program to use and usually it provides a translation I can use.

I don't use it in text messages. I try to use haha as a substitute most of the time as I don't like using lol.
What do you think would be the best motivator for learning a language?

I think if you have family that speak a different language that you don't know it's a great motivator, especially because you can easily get advice from them when you're having trouble.
