Registration is and always was the proper way to say this word. People may make this mistake because of they are trying to apply the suffix "-ation" to the word register in the way it may work with some other words.

As a writer and lyricist, I have been known to create words and use colorful phrases that are used to entertain and make specific points to listeners. I have enjoyed doing this since my youth. Sometimes there is not a word to best describe something, so you have to make due by "mixination" of words like I just did there (mixination is not a real word). :grin:

There are so many subtleties about English like the use of words that sound the same, but are spelled different, or spelled the same, but sound different (like red, read, and read), that they say it is a bit more difficult to learn than other languages when you are learning as an adult that speaks another language.

I think this seems to be an accurate assumption.

It really depends on the tutorial, and the instructor. I have learned a lot from tutorials online, and I really cannot stress just how much I have learned in this manner. I know for sure that they are effective; at least this has been my experience.

I am a speed reader, and I incorporate techniques like block reading (reading groups of words at once), and photoreading. But when it comes to leisure reading, I tend to read slower to enjoy the experience more.

Wow... What a question. I must say that the moment you start dreaming in another language you must be officially fluent in that language. I cannot at this time dream of dreaming in another language. I anxiously await that day (or night).

I really think that it depends on the language. I can speak for most native English speakers when I say, that languages from Asia look extremely difficult to read and write. Languages like Sanskrit, Chinese,and Japanese look very challenges. I think that they are probably not as complicated as they look (I always tell myself that the children in those countries learn to read and write as small children).

Some languages are harder to learn than others, but conversationally speaking, there are universal words that will assist with communication. On the other hand, when it comes to being fluent, I feel that with regular study and practice, I will be able to speak another language in about 9-12 months.

I feel that a wonderful way to learn a new language is to think in that language, and speak daily (or chat online) with people that are native to that language. I have helped others that speak other languages speak English, by talking, chatting and talking on Skype. It is the repetitive approach that works best, IMHO.

I really appreciate this forum. I am someone who appreciates linguists, and always wanted to learn other languages. Having a forum of enthusiasts that are here to share is a wonderful way for me to get started. Hopefully one day I will be a language ninja.  :ninja:
