Damoh Posted April 13, 2023 Report Share Posted April 13, 2023 I understand ir is the infinitive of va. However what I don't get is why it sometimes has 'a' before it and sometimes not. Quiero ir a casa - I want to go home Tengo que ir a casa - I have to go home Voy a ir a casa - I'm going to go home. This last one seems like it's saying "I'm going to to go home" to me. For me it depend of the situation, voy a ir a casa is more like "I'm going home" and it sound like right now and when you use "I'm going to go home" sounds more like you tell some one like you plan to go home but like a moment after, like you are thinking to do that.
