kristofert Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Just moved to Egg Harbor, Atlantic City Electric wants a $400 deposit because I had a late payment five years ago. Any way around that in NJ? Quote
Dreado Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 NJ BPU rules cap deposits and let you use utility assistance letters instead. My buddy showed his LIHEAP approval and ACE waived the deposit entirely. Apply for any assistance first, then send the award letter to the utility. The state site lists deposit waiver forms by provider: https://www.utilityassistance.org/nj/ – ACE page has a fax number for instant review. Takes two business days to remove the hold. Quote
