JouhBoysh Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM Report Posted Thursday at 03:13 PM I never thought I’d need to look into home care agencies, but when my dad had a small stroke last spring, everything changed. He’s still independent in many ways, but daily tasks like cooking and getting around the house started becoming risky. My family was torn between trying to handle it ourselves and finding professional help. I’ve been browsing online, but it’s hard to know which agency is actually reliable. For anyone in Philadelphia, how did you figure out which home care service really worked for families like yours? Quote
fejipak903 Posted Thursday at 03:41 PM Report Posted Thursday at 03:41 PM I’ve been through a similar situation with my grandmother a couple of years ago. It can feel overwhelming at first, especially with so many agencies claiming they’re “the best.” What helped us was finding a service that clearly explained their approach and answered all our questions without pressure. We looked at Home Care Agency Philadelphia visit website early on just to get a sense of what options were realistic in Philly, and it really helped frame our expectations. It didn’t solve everything, but having that reference made the rest of the search more manageable and less stressful for the whole family. JouhBoysh 1 Quote
JouhBoysh Posted Friday at 04:19 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 04:19 PM Thank you for sharing your experience. What you wrote about the lack of pressure really resonates with me — that's exactly what's missing most right now. With so much advertising and loud promises around, it's hard to figure things out calmly. It's a good idea to first just look at what options are available, without any obligations. I think we'll try to take a similar approach to at least reduce the tension in the family a little and understand what really suits us. Quote
fejipak903 Posted Friday at 05:44 PM Report Posted Friday at 05:44 PM I understand you very well; we went through almost the same stage of doubts and arguments in our family. In the end, it wasn't the name of the agency that was decisive for us, but how attentively they listened to our specific problems. Don't be afraid to ask “stupid” questions and take a pause to think — normal specialists are cool with that. Even if you don't find the perfect option right away, things will become clearer over time. The main thing is not to try to do everything on your own. Quote
