PollMort0 Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Has anyone here tried restoring Lithuanian citizenship through ancestry? I recently found out that my grandfather was born in Lithuania, and it got me thinking. I’m not fully sure if I qualify or how realistic the whole process is, so I’d like to hear real experiences, not official statements. Quote
JouhBoysh Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 I actually spent quite a bit of time researching this last year because my family situation is similar. At first, I was skeptical and thought it would be one of those things that sound easy but turn out impossible. What helped me was understanding the rules properly and seeing real explanations instead of rumors. I used https://www.lithuaniancitizenship.com/ mainly to get a clearer picture of eligibility and document requirements. The biggest lesson for me was that the process isn’t about speed, it’s about accuracy. Old records, name changes, translations — all of that matters more than people expect. Even if you don’t apply right away, knowing where you stand legally gives a lot of clarity. Quote
BeenCrown Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 Came across this thread by accident, but it’s an interesting topic. I don’t have Lithuanian roots myself, yet I’ve noticed how many people are reconnecting with their background lately. Sometimes it’s not even about the passport, but about understanding where your family comes from. These discussions usually make me think about how much history is quietly sitting in old boxes and family conversations Quote
