becigep441 Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 When signing up for a new game, do you guys usually go the email route or just link it to your social media account? I've done both, and honestly, I waffle back and forth on which I prefer. Social media is faster, but then I worry about the game posting stuff on my behalf (which has happened before, ugh). Email feels safer, but then I have to remember another password and wade through verification emails. What's your go-to method, and why? Am I missing some huge advantage or disadvantage of either approach? Quote
rapav63606 Posted April 17 Report Posted April 17 For me, it really depends on how much I trust the game developer. In general, I lean towards using my email, just to keep things separate. I was just reading an article about how sign-up experiences can impact the whole feel of a game, and it made me realize how those small choices impact my decision https://myindiawire.com/why-the-sign-up-experience-can-change-the-whole-feel-of-a-fast-game/ Some games even offer multiple different signup options. If they give me a clear way to opt out of promotional emails, I'm more likely to use my email address. Quick access isn't worth the potential spam overload for me. Quote
branwenarianwen78 Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM @That's Not My Neighbor Logging in with social media is really fast; one click and you're in the game, especially when testing multiple games simultaneously. But the price you pay is access to data and those annoying "automatic sharing" features if you're not careful with the settings. Quote
kimberlyle Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 05:19 PM Honestly I’d never sign up with social media for games, that’s just asking for privacy headaches. Email gives you way more control, simple as that. People trade convenience for security way too easily. Same thing I noticed with ricky casino online, they at least give proper account setup and secure login options instead of forcing shortcuts. It’s an Australian platform with legit licensing, heaps of games and payment methods, so they actually care about user control. Social logins might be faster, but long term they’re just not worth the risk in my opinion. Quote
