I tried learning French for years, but no one is using it with me, I don't use it for work and I have never been to France or Canada. So now I am brushing up on my Spanish because it gives me an edge at my job and people like to see it on my resume. If you don't find people to talk to, it can be very difficult to keep it at a high level. There is only one thing that can maintain a language that you have learnt and that is practice, practice and more practice. If you are the only one speaking it, this can be extremely difficult to do.
