It depends on what it is that needs to be said. If it's a text that is well under 140 characters, then yeah, use actual words. But if you use "u" instead of "you" just so you don't go over the character limit, it's fine. And acronyms like iirc, afaik, brb, etc. are completely ok, imo.

I can't help but feel that you're trolling at this point. Are you really that much of a contrarian? Are you going to stick to your protest when you write a letter of intent or resume?

Is backronym in the dictionary? Ha ha. One of the more famous backronyms is BMW: Bus, Metro, Walk.

There are actually onomatopoeia for famous songs, particularly songs with guitar. Like:

That's the breakdown in Domination by Pantera, and one of the more simple ones I could think of.

Also, there are things like "dadum tsh" for a drum rimshot, "wah wah" or "wow wow" for a wah pedal, and more.

I recently learned about metonymy in my Creative Writing class. I knew what it was essentially, but learning what it is specifically is obviously better. Here are a couple of examples:

Can you give me a hand with this? - hand means help

Class, I need all of your ears. - to pay attention

Your mom is a real cougar, Bill. - cougar is an attractive older woman

Is it "God"?

On Christmas Eve, don't be negatively talking

If you don't want to end up with this in your stocking

This might be one where I have to think in simpler terms, but I can't figure it out. I'm just going to guess "coal". 

Also, "lesser" refers to importance rather than amount. Ex: "These lesser mortals think they can challenge me?"

Without capitalization, a paragraph would look like one run-on sentence, even with punctuation; which would make it harder to read. That, and it just doesn't look good.

Yeah, I occasionally watch French films, but not TV shows. It helps, but I have more difficulty speaking the language than understanding it. Still, it is an aid.

Apparently my first "words" were "baku baku". I said that a lot, according to my parents. I don't know what my actual first words were, though.

I've picked up a few words from some foreign songs, but I've picked up more from listening to ASMR videos in Russian. For those who are unaware, here's a wiki page describing what ASMR is:

I've only retained a dozen words or so, but it's still pretty cool that I get to learn while relaxing.

I don't think it was any one for me, but I really liked the way old, wise characters like Gandalf or Dumbledore spoke. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings were two of the books/series I got really hooked on when I was a kid, and made me actually want to read. Besides literature, I have taken and take inspiration form lyricists; guys like Neil Fallon. Whenever I was inspired by any character that interested me in any medium, I would try to simulate their cadence for a little while, and some of it would stick sometimes. So, yeah, multiple influences for me.

The most difficulty I have with French is verbs and grammar. Understanding it, and speaking in simple terms is relatively easy, and it won't take long for you to get there. Keep at it.

Without a doubt it would be "Jules et Jim". It's one of the best films of the French New Wave. Everyone in the film is great, but Jeanne Moreau is perfect. Whether you speak French or not, you should see the film. It's one of the best ever.

I know that someone who is Spanish can partially understand someone who is Portuguese, and vice versa. Can you list some things that are similar, if not the same?

I'm surprised there hasn't been mention of oxymoron itself yet - which translated means "sharp dull" in Greek.

Using "plain" in combinations like "plain exciting" or "plain absurd" is funny.

Technically, "almost done/finished" is an oxymoron, but it still makes sense. You're either done or not, but you can be close to completion.

Definitely writing in my case. I'm good at gauging what a person is saying just by looking at them, even if I'm not sure what he or she is saying. Reading is also difficult for me, at least initially, but I find it substantially easier than writing.

Grammar is something I generally tend to nitpick about when it comes to myself, especially in English since that's my mother tongue. I'll always try getting the correct grammar when speaking French or Greek.

I'm from Canada, and I'm currently learning French and Greek. The only language I'm fluent in is English for now, but hopefully that changes soon.
