  1. Wow there are so many benefits to learning another language. It is really hard to pick just one benefit. Well I guess I'll go with my favorite benefit then which is... You are more diverse and can have more intellectual conversations. Learning another language can help you to understand better where some of the words in our language come from.
  2. I've been laughed at many time for the way I pronounce things even in English since I have a Boston accent so to me it's nothing. When it's another language though I do my best to not let my accent get in the way and do extra practicing and listening to make it sound a bit better. But I mean you can't help your accent really, so there is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.
  3. Wow, I have so many languages I want to learn. I honestly think the next one I want to learn though is Arabic. I have a cousin who is studying Arabic right now so I've been picking up little things from her, here and there. I think it'd be great to find the time to fully study it with her though. I love learning new things with someone else. It makes it more fun and gives you someone else to bounce stuff off of when you might be stuck!
  4. I started learning a second language in middle school and throughout high school. Unfortunately I didn't use it a lot right after high school and forgot pretty much everything until I took a refresher course a few years later. Now I use it as much as I possibly can so I won't forget and need another refresher course one day down the line!
  5. Oh wow I've never tried, but I think I'm going to have now. Especially if it really is as hard as you are making it sound. This will also be a great way to get some new words in my vocabulary I bet. The bible uses words we don't generally use in every day conversation!
  6. I agree with so many of you in this thread! It is just so unnatural to say letters out loud like you were typing into your computer. Why say "LOL," if you really were laughing out loud someone would hear you doing if you are speaking to them. The whole point in typing it into your computer when commenting and conversing is because the people you are talking to cannot hear you and you are letting them know what your are doing in response to what they said! Oh, and when people say "hashtag" out loud at all! That's just silly, you are not a walking talking version of twitter.
  7. Hey there everyone! I'm Shana as my name says! Found these forums today and figured I would check them out, they seem very interesting so far so here I am! I don't know nearly as many languages as it seems most of you do, but I'm learning my second language now and having a great time and hope to learn more in the future!
