When did you start to learn a second language?

I started learning Tumbuka when I was 6 and French when I was 10. I now have a degree in French. I think it's better to start early and gently. -
I intend starting to learn Russian in a few months time because I want to be able to read Russian litertature which I think is one of the finest literatures around.

Although Irish I spent most of my childhood in Malawi. I have also lived in France and the Netherlands.
