I have to admit that I have a very hard time flirting in another language. The main reason that it is difficult for me is that I have to think about it too much and because of that I lose a lot when it comes to the emotion that goes along with speaking.

I actually wrote an article just the other day about some of my favorite movie quotes so I think it is pretty funny that I came across this discussion today.

Here are three of my most favorite movie quotes:

I really do think that it would be nice if there was a universal language so that you wouldn't have the communication barriers that are so often faced. However, I don't think that this is something that could ever really happen. The reason that I feel that way is that there are still a lot of people in this world that are quite isolated and it would be very difficult to integrate those people into something like that.

Hi Misty, it sounds like you and I are a lot alike. I too am a crafty mom and I love doing a lot of different things with my kids.

I was fortunate that I got to take several years of Spanish when I was in school, but I wouldn't say that I am fluent in the language. I do try as much as possible and now that my son is in school, he is enrolled in a Spanish Immersion Program. I really do want to give my children the opportunity to speak many languages as I think that will be something that really will pay off for them in their lives.

I think that English is a very difficult language to learn because there are a lot of different rules that are used in the language. In addition to that, there are also a lot of words that sound the same but are very different. Some examples of that which I can think of right off the top of my head are to and two, see and sea, witch and which, etc.

I am just a music lover in general. I like all kinds of music if the use of the instruments and the beat is something that appeals to me. There are a lot of times that I don't even pay attention to the lyrics so it is quite natural for me to say that I like music of other languages even when I don't know exactly what they are saying.

I have found that this place is a great resource for language learning. As far as your desire to travel to Italy, I really do hope that you have the opportunity to do it. I've been to Italy once (in 1997) and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world.

Google translate is excellent when you are just wanting to get a general idea of what is being said. However, I don't think that it is good at all when you are looking for something that is precise because I've noticed a lot of errors with it when translating my son's homework.

In all honesty, I really think that the only way to avoid having that happen is to use the language regularly.

There is a saying of use it or lose it and I really do think that is something that is especially important when it comes to language retention.

When it comes to a full language that I'm not able to speak, I can't understand all of it. However, I am able to pick up on some phrases and such in Italian because it sounds similar to Spanish and I am semi-fluent in Spanish.

For me, I found that it was very important to be in a setting with other students. The reason that this was important for me is because then I was able to have conversational practice that I would not have been able to get if I was learning alone.

I really do believe that is one of the reasons that I was able to learn Spanish a lot easier than French was for me.

I truly wish that I was bilingual, but I'm not. I speak English and I can speak a little bit of Spanish, but it wouldn't be enough to get me through in a Spanish speaking country.

However, my seven year old son has been enrolled in a Spanish Immersion program and I certainly hope that will aid him in becoming bilingual as he gets a little bit older.

Amazon is the one that I've heard the most good things about. I've heard that their user interface is very easy to use and also with them being a big marketplace, you have the best opportunity to be found.

For me, the thing that I find to be the most frustrating is when I am trying to converse in Spanish and I just completely lose a word that I'm looking for. I hate it when I have to stop in the middle of what I am saying and ask how you say a specific word.

Honestly, no, I am not guilty of doing this. I've always been one of those people that won't say anything at all if I don't have something nice to say.

That said, how would I feel if I was saying something out loud in another language only to find out that the person that I was talking about knew exactly what I was saying.

I am a native English speaker, so it is natural that I speak in English. However, I know quite a bit of Spanish as well and when I am conversing in Spanish, I do find that I tend to think in Spanish. I don't think that is always the way that it works for people though.

I think that I really tend to irritate people when I text them because I don't use any kind of abbreviations or shorthand when I am sending a text to someone. I don't know why, but I just can't stand all of the text shorthand.

I don't really watch a lot of television, so I haven't really caught the mistakes on television, however, I am an avid reader and when I see those kinds of mistakes in the written word, they stick out to me like a sore thumb.

I do also notice that I catch those same kinds of mistakes when I hear people talking in person and they really do make me cringe.

The ones where I tend to notice it the most are those words that are also medical terms. If you actually start to listen to people, you will notice that you can frequently hear the words said time and time again and never hear it pronounced the same way twice.

The two that I find that I use the most frequently are Hola and Que pasa? Why, I am not exactly sure, but they don't sound as harsh as some of the other "greetings" in my opinion.

I would assume that most of the signs would at least be similar, but I really don't think that there is one universal sign language. I guess we would really need to get a person that is deaf to ring in on that one, in fact, I have a couple friends that are deaf and I will ask them about it.

The sign language that I know a little bit of is ASL (American Sign Language). I would think that it would be called USL if it was universal.

Does pig Latin count? I ask because Pig Latin was something that I had a lot of fun with when I was younger and my mother taught me and now that I have children of my own that are old enough to "get it" I have been teaching them Pig Latin as well.

I do not really have any sites that I can share that will be good resources to improve your writing skills, however I can make a suggestion.

Look up different writing prompts and either use your computer or get a notebook and do some free writing on a prompt every day. The more that you practice your skills, the more that you will find that they are improving.

I really didn't have one particular way that I felt before my exams, it really depended on what subject that it was. If it was something that came easily to me, I never stressed over it. However, with those subjects that I just did not get, I would have a lot of anxiety over those tests and exams.

The words that I find that I always have the most difficulty with, especially when I am in a hurry is all of the I before E except after C or when sounded like A as in neighbor or weigh.
