Hello everyone! It's nice to see a forum shared by people who love language learning just as much as I do. English is my native language, but I have been learning Korean for about 5-6 years now. My mother is Korean, but I didn't learn the language growing up (she could have made this much easier for me!). Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself! I wish everyone the best in their language learning efforts.

I have been learning the Korean language for about five to six years. I started when I began my undergraduate degree. My mother is Korean, and I always grew up hearing the language, but never exactly knowing what was being said. Being exposed to the sounds of the language really helped when I was initially learning the language. A lot of the sounds were familiar, and I picked up listening skills fairly quickly. I lived in Korea for about a year, and studied extensively while I was there which was extremely helpful. That being said, I still have so much more to learn!

I'm new to this forum, so I'm not sure if this has been posted before. I wanted to post a link to the Korean Wiki Project because it's an excellent resource for all types of information on the Korean language. There is another blog site called Lang-8 that allows you to create a blog to practice any language you're studying. It's been really helpful for me because native speakers correct your work. You can also correct work that has been written in your native tongue. It has allowed me to learn expressions that are more fluent and natural than those I would have studied out of a text book.
