I think using it constantly is the best way. If you aren't continuing to learn it, try watching the news in that language or reading a newspaper from that language.

Also it may help if you find some people to talk to that speak that language too.

It will seem daunting when you start but if you stay motivated and on track, you can make good progress through sheer persistence. As the other guy said, there are so many resources, and you can always find one that suits your style or interests to help with staying interested. Good luck

For me I have a few japanese people I met when I was over in Japan, and when we're both free I can give them a call on skype and practice with them. It's really helpful when you don't have access to anyone around you.

I think it's really only useful as an extreme beginner, to associate the sound with the kana. For example your first 2 or 3 weeks of learning. Once you have learnt the alphabet it obviously should stop being used.

Getting as immersed in as you can with speakers who are native speakers or fluent in the language.  Learn to read it at the same time - it helps me to be able to read it and improves my ability to speak it.

I've heard this is the easiest and most efficient way. When you really have no other choice but to learn and speak the language then you're gonna pick it up a lot faster than if you were at home, studying every day yet still conversing in your native language

For me speaking is definitely the hardest. Holding a conversation with a native speaker that isn't aware you're still learning is extremely frustrating. Especially when you don't know how to ask them to please slow down lol. But yeah reading and writing is easy enough for me atleast.
