  1. I honestly think cartoons are one of the best ways for a kid to learn English easily and in a fun way. It's how I did it, at least. Kids soak up a lot of the things they see, and great cartoons with good dialogue are a great learning tool.

Most major countries have dubs on their cartoons, but not in Croatia, at least not for the bigger networks like Cartoon Network. And it's not just vocabulary, kids can already develop an ear for grammar using cartoons, and they'll sense when something just sounds off when they hear someone say a bigger mistake.

Another great thing is translating them, for instance if they're watching it with younger siblings or cousins, they could try to translate for them a bit and explain what's going on.

All in all, cartoons are a great medium for children.

  2. Unless if you're looking for a single word, Google Translate is pretty much never a good idea. I've seen people put their homework through it and it just looked grotesquely bad, and I've heard of people not even putting in enough effort to translate into the correct language.

  3. I used to study Italian in elementary for about 5 years, but after hat I hadn't picked it up and I've been meaning to do so.

Right now I'm self-learning Japanese though, so far I got all of hiragana down and am about to start studying katakana.

  4. In elementary you get to choose if you wish to study a second foreign language. German and Italian were the only options, and I liked the sound of Italian a lot more. I studied it for 5 years there, but didn't put much effort so now I've forgotten most things. I wish to go back and fix that, though.

  5. Right now, school is though as is, so I leave language learning for my free time. You really need to have a good will to learn, so I think one should always ask themselves really well why they want to learn a specific language? Will they use it?

If you gather many reasons and turn practice into fun with games, then doing it every day won't be a problem.
