  1. I have always loved Anime and Japanese culture, but I recently saw a few anime that are continued in games. I have been spoiled by the subtitles, but there are a lot of games and shows that just never got translated that I would love to play or be a part of. I want to learn so that I can play them and be able to visit Japan without a lot of difficulties.
  2. I like watching subbed anime because it has been helping with pronunciation. I read a lot of books, but books can't help you understand how the word is supposed to be spoken. Anime has been filling that void for me pretty well. I have been able to recognize words from the books and put a sound to them. I understood basic words even before picking up books because they are repeated so often in anime. I think it is at least a decent beginner stepping stone.
  3. I am looking for someone who is pretty fluent to help me learn Japanese. I know a few small phrases. I am still a beginner. I can talk online through chat or maybe even Skype. I am not quite sure how this works, but I think that it would make it a lot easier if I knew someone who actually spoke Japanese that could help me.
  4. I have just begun to learn Japanese. I picked up a couple books from the library. It is all in romanji. I wonder if learning to read and understand how to pronounce the words is more important or if I should be starting somewhere else? I am trying to teach myself. I heard that Rosetta Stone is absolutely awful for Japanese. I could not find a decent program that was comparable. I am open to all suggestions.
  5. Hello! I am new here, obviously. I have recently started trying to learn Japanese. I spend a lot of my time playing JRPG games, and I watch a lot of anime. I decided that I would love to visit Japan in the next couple years. I am not overly ambitious. I would love to be able to read and speak it fluently, but if that is not possible, I would love to at least be able to hold a basic conversation and be able to read on a intermediate level.
