  1. As others users have mentioned, learning a lot of languages at the same time can hinder progression. It is impressive if you can pull it off but learning how clauses are put together, the correct pronunciation, the culture behind the language etc is time-consuming and requires a lot of studying and practice. More often than not, people learning lots of languages simultaneously will only be able to pick up on the basics of each language instead of deepening their understanding of a single language as a whole. So I believe that if someone wants to really learn a language, they should study one language at a time.
  2. If you want the child to be really fluent in a language, they should be exposed to it as early as possible. We're not talking about conscious learning of course, that comes when they are able to go to school. Unconsciously though, a child is able to pick up on the languages they are exposed to, as long as they come in contact with native speakers. Consider bilingual children, whose parents speak different languages. They grow up hearing two different language varieties and by the age of 6 they are able to use both languages equally well. Of course this is the ideal scenario for a child to become a fluent speaker. Not every child will be able to be exposed to different languages before the age of 5-6.
  3. Sorry for bumping this thread, I just noticed there's no Greek translation. Greek: Ψέματα και συκοφαντία! (Latinized: Psemata ke sikofantia)
  4. Hi there. My name's Andreas. I'm from Cyprus and I'm currently studying English Literature. I'm a native Greek speaker (along with the Greek-Cypriot dialect) and I am fascinated by languages. I've done two levels of French as a requirement for my course work, dabble with Duolingo (multi-trying to learn the basics in Spanish, some German and remember whatever French I was taught) and also did a course on Italian language. I'm not fluent in any of these languages of course but I do like to play with words from different languages when talking. (Some kind of code-switching with the little I know of these languages) This forum seems like a good place to interact with people fluent in different languages and a good learning tool. I'm pleased to be here, if anyone needs any help/has any questions about Greek language I'd be happy to assist if I can. Thanks for reading!
