JenJuhasz
Ohayo!I have a scheduled call with my family in Japan every month. We try to keep in touch, though it's been 10 years. My skill at speaking or even understanding Japanese has declined precipitously due to lack of practice and traveling to other parts of the globe since I lived there last. I'm wondering if you know of a good, on the fly, translator app to help the flow of conversation when my brain hits a brick wall and can't get past it... 13vinylinfants
Assuming you have internet access, there is a Google Translate app for Android. I don't think there is anything that works offline. It would have to contain a complete dictionary and a complete grammar, plus the programming for using both of them, which I'm pretty sure is technologically unfeasible for your average smartphone/tablet. Any program would just be too big for a smartphone to handle. If there is any, I can't imagine them being terribly accurate.
