Emperor Zhao of the Song Dynasty commanded his men to compile an encyclopaedia called Taiping Yujian, with a total word count of 4.78 million. The emperor decided to read three chapters every day. When the officials suggested the emperor stop reading and take a break, he answered, “All my fatigue disappears as I open and read this book.”
