Macnerd Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 I tried posting this on Unilang but no one bothered to respond. I wonder if Unilang forum is closed. Does anybody know if it is closed? I’d love to create a conlang. Coming up with grammar is easy. I'm curious about premodifier vs postmodifier. For example, in English the attributive adjective comes before the noun, but in Spanish, the attributive adjective comes after the noun. In English the relative clause comes after the noun. I wonder if there are any languages, natural or conlang, where the modifier placement is consistent. I wonder if there's a logical order for modifiers. Is it more logical to place the attributive adjective before the noun or after the noun? It seems to me that if the adjective is before the noun, the noun is kind of dangling. Whereas, if the adjective follows the noun it's like the adjective is referring back to the noun. Kind of like a relative clause is referring back to the noun. Quote
