So, we just bought this beautiful old place near downtown Kingston, but there’s a catch. Every time we run the dishwasher or take a long shower, there’s this absolutely foul, "death-like" sewer smell coming from the floor drains. I’ve tried every chemical cleaner under the sun, but I'm starting to think the actual drain lines under the house are toast. I’m terrified that the whole front yard needs to be excavated, which sounds like a total financial nightmare. Has anyone here dealt with a full drain line replacement recently? I need a company that knows how to handle these older Kingston properties without turning my life into a construction zone for a month. Help!

Congrats on the new house, but yeah, that smell is a classic sign of a failing line, probably roots or a collapse. Don't waste your money on those "miracle" drain cleaners; they usually do more harm than good on old pipes. I had a similar disaster and went with https://superdrainkingston.ca/ to get it sorted. They used a camera to show me exactly where the break was, which was super cool but also gross. They were really efficient and managed to replace the line much faster than I expected. They were very honest about the pricing too, no hidden fees or "oh, we found another problem" nonsense. Just get it inspected properly before it backs up into your kitchen!
