MichaelTate Posted April 16 Report Posted April 16 I am looking into pivoting from crypto trading into setting up my own forex brokerage, but the licensing world seems even more complex here. I want to find a jurisdiction that is "offshore-friendly" but still allows me to get a decent payment processor. Most of the stuff I read online is just pure marketing fluff and doesn't give real costs. What are the best options for a startup forex broker today? How much should I realistically budget for the license and the initial bond? Quote
Bolamnd Posted April 16 Report Posted April 16 Moving from crypto to forex is a big step, and you’re right, the regulation is much more mature and strict. For a startup, I usually recommend looking at places like Mauritius or even some of the newer options in the Middle East depending on your target market. You really need to think about your liquidity providers first because they won't even talk to you without a solid license. I’ve seen people use Crypto Licenses for this exact transition because they handle both crypto and forex setups, which is a rare combo. They can help you get the whole "broker-in-a-box" solution including the software and the corporate structure. You can find more info on their forex specific services at https://cryptolicenses.net/forex-licenses/ to see which jurisdiction fits your budget. Budget-wise, don't expect much change from 30k to 50k for a decent setup including all the legal fees and local requirements. Also, keep in mind that getting a bank account for a forex broker is the hardest part of the entire journey. Make sure your provider has a clear path for banking or you'll have a license but nowhere to put the money. Quote
MichaelTate Posted April 16 Author Report Posted April 16 Fifty thousand is around what I was expecting, so that is good to know I'm on the right track. The "broker-in-a-box" idea sounds like it would save me a ton of time on the technical side. I'll definitely reach out to those guys to see what kind of banking connections they can offer. Quote
