SilentEcho456 Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 Hello pros! I’m looking for a recommendation for a portable tester that is rookie-friendly. We are expanding our team and have a few junior techs who haven't done much NDT work on heavy steel plates before. I need a device that has a very clear interface and doesn't require a ton of manual setup. Some of the older units we have are just too technical for a beginner, and I’m worried about user error leading to junk data on our inspection sheets. Is there a modern digital unit that pretty much guides the user and handles the unit conversions on the fly? Quote
Mingrates28 Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 The learning curve on the newer digital models is so much better now. Most modern devices have color screens and menus that feel like using a normal smartphone. This really cuts down on mistakes because the device can literally warn the tech if the impact wasn't straight or if the reading is totally out of bounds. I’d suggest looking at the digital range at https://teqto.pro/portable-hardness-testers/leeb-hardness-testers because their UI is super intuitive for guys just starting out. They have built-in conversion tables for HRC and HB, so your techs won't have to carry paper charts around the shop. Quote
