What does a storm damage public adjuster actually do?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been hearing a lot about public adjusters after major storms and property damage situations, but I’m not fully clear on what they actually do. How are they different from the insurance company’s adjuster?

Do storm damage public adjusters help with inspections, documentation, and negotiating settlements, or is their role more limited? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked with one during a storm damage insurance claim.
