Vernon Posted Tuesday at 03:01 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:01 PM I recently responded to an online rental listing because the photos and description made the apartment look surprisingly decent for the price. After arranging a viewing, I immediately noticed the actual place looked completely different from the pictures posted online. The rooms seemed much smaller, several areas were poorly maintained, and some details from the listing were clearly exaggerated. What bothered me most was wasting time driving across town expecting something that didn’t remotely match the advertisement. I understand photos can sometimes make spaces appear slightly better, but this felt intentionally misleading. The person showing the apartment also avoided directly answering questions about maintenance problems inside the building. Experiences like this make it harder to trust online listings without seeing places in person first. Do other people feel rental listings online have become less reliable lately? Quote
jacombo Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago I still use Craigslist occasionally for local furniture and electronics because sometimes you can actually find surprisingly good deals there if you’re careful and patient. At the same time, the platform definitely requires extra attention because scams and unreliable sellers seem much more common now than they were years ago. Before meeting a seller recently, I checked craigslist reviews to see what kinds of experiences other users were having, and many of the reviews confirmed the importance of staying cautious during transactions.
