  1. Yes, in my opinion, I think that You Tube videos or any other source that provides online tutorials of the English language can be very effective. I believe that it is the same as being in a classroom setting because you're just sitting there listening to a tutorial or lecture. Although I do not watch English Language videos, I do watch language from Harvard professors all the time on different subjects. I have learned a lot so I am sure it is quite effective.
  2. I happen to enjoy the Google translation, I used it often and I haven't noticed any issues. Of course, I don't speak any other language so I wouldn't know if it was correct or not. Usually, I will try to get a translation from English to Spanish since I am in the midst of learning Spanish. I'm glad that I now know that it can have some errors. Next time I use it, I will be sure to ask my mother if its correct, since she speaks Spanish fluently.
  3. I checked out the site, and I think that I will join momentarily. It seems like they have a lot of information and one can learn a lot. I am excited and can't wait to get started.
  4. The correct word to include in your sentence would be "cancelled". The word without the double "L" is spelled incorrectly, so it should be "I cancelled my flight". Millions of people have spelled that word incorrectly, including myself.
  5. I think the best way to learn vocabulary is to study the words and memorize it's meaning as well as use it in your everyday vocabulary. There is no better way than to familiarize yourself with something than to practice it. Prior to physicians become actual physicians, they have to matriculate into a residency program where they practice for 3 - 6 years. Nurses has to practice as well as other professions. So, practice until it becomes a component of your everyday vocabulary.
  6. I have encounter many English words that happens to appear and sound found but one of them that stuck in my head is "cantankerous"--it means an ill-tempered and quarrelsome individual. Although I will utilize the word from time to time, I still think it's quite funny.
  7. Hi everyone, My name is Angelica-Nicole and I am a 25 year old woman from Florida who loves the English language. I am currently enrolled in college where I major in English with a concentration in technical communication. Ever since I was a little girl I have always been fascinated by the English language and literature; through this forum I hope to share my knowledge as well as gain the knowledge of those who has a passion for English as well.
  8. In this case, "such" would be the appropriate term as you are utilizing it as an adjective, which "such" would fall into that category. If you were using it as a noun, then you would have to use the word "so". However, they are both terms that are as a result of something, so you have the right therms in mind.
  9. Although I am currently studying English, there are times where I become confused and I believe that stems from over analyzing my grammar usage. If you just let it come naturally without putting too much thought into it, then you would not have to fret about the grammar. Like the others mentioned, "when did you receive it" would be the correct way of saying it as well as writing it.
