In Spanish, grammar is very important because 1 error can change the entire meaning of the sentence. I feel that grammar is the most important aspects of language learning. Foreigners are easily spotted with incorrect grammar. There are more rude mistakes that can occur with incorrect grammar. I feel that if I lacked the correct grammar of a language, I do not know that language, I only know the words of the language.

Sneakers, high heels, sandals, etc. I know zapatos is just "shoes", but are there other words for other types of shoes?

I feel they are effective in learning the general language. Not as effective as a class or talking with native language speakers, but they do work. Rosetta Stone is the WORST however! I bought it to try my hand at Japanese a while back, it was really bad. I would find another if I were you in the market.

My native language is English. That being said, I feel that Mandarin, Japanese and various Indian languages are among the hardest. All those characters, all those sounds, it's just too much for me. I feel Spanish is very important not only in the United States, but all over the world. I live in the US, so I encounter Spanish speakers almost every day. Being a nurse, knowing Spanish is essential to doing my job! I hope to master Spanish and travel to a Spanish-speaking country one day.
