Well, it's not an absolute rule. It's just a general rule to guide students on how to spell things. I'm sure that the number of words that use this general rule is greater than the other.

whenever you write tomorrow, always think of it as to-morrow I've had this issue before but since I thought of it as to-morrow, no more issues.

And even the spelling of my country, ugh! Philippines. I would often spell it as Philipines. haha XD I'm not that patriotic lol. 

One thing I want to stress is that one should NOT learn Japanese from watching Anime or typical overrated movies and TV shows. A lot of the times, the voice actors talk in a way that is different from the way people usually talk in Japan, so your pronunciation may be very off from the norms if you try to only learn how to say words from anime and such. It's suggested to learn pronunciation from native speakers and expert polyglots; knowing how to pronounce the syllabary is enough for you to piece it together yourself.

Indeed, in fact, one of my students told me that they find people who speak like in the anime very irritating. Haha

By the way, I noticed that LINE is the most popular messaging app in Japan especially among teenagers.

When I am talking to my friends (who are usually Filipinos), I think in Filipino. But when it comes to work, I always think and talk in English.

The grammar of both English and Filipino are different so if you think in Filipino and then translate that thought in English, you're gonna have a bad time. haha

Same as with Japanese and Korean.

As long as you know English, then you're good.

English is spoken almost everywhere. So if you know how to speak, read, and write in English, you'll have no problem communicating with other people.

So the word weird wouldn't qualify as "before c" since the letter before "ie or ei" is W.

Well, it's all about how serious you are when it comes to learning a certain language. There are people who learn other languages just by watching videos on youtube. So I guess, the method doesn't really matter as long as you are eager to learn.

Shortcuts in texting is still tolerable. During the early times, we only have limited characters when sending text messages so we tend to cut each word short (80 characters per sms)

However, when it comes to online chatting, I don't think that text speaking is tolerable. I usually don't talk to those kinds of guys. Haha

I was talking on the phone when this happened. The person from the other line though I got disconnected because I went silent for quite a bit there. Haha. so yeah, this happens to me as well.

Since you are pronouncing the word with silent /h/ leaving you with /ah/ to begin the word with, we should be using "an". Same goes with the word honor.

Remember, it is not always the letters that we should check. We should also check the sounds or pronunciation.

I am currently reading the book "Making out in Japanese" and I dunno but I find it funny. haha

Well, according to one of my Japanese students, if they see a person not able to read / write Kanji, it is as if they were children. So I guess, you really have to learn reading and writing kanjis

I am still yet to study Kanji but knowing the etymology behind every Kanji would be a nice idea. But it could also be a painful one. Imagine all those Kanjis. Whew!

Instead of "lol", I overuse "haha" or even " " not only when chatting with friends but also when posting on forums. like this one. haha

Oh goodness, "irregardless" IS my hate word!! I've had friends, people I'm debating with and even professors use it! And not even ironically. If someone insists on using the term, I absolutely cannot stand talking to them no matter how intellectual they may be otherwise. I know it sounds rather snobby but I just cannot tolerate it.

Well, actually I did a little bit of research and found out that the word irregardless is a combination of regardless and irrespective.

But I still don't find it logical. haha

As a german, german words that got 'imported' into the english language sound really funny to me.

Words like 'kindergarten', 'doppelgänger' or 'to abseil' just sound weird for a native speaker

I somehow know how that feels like. In my case, loaned English words are the ones that I find funny when they are being used in other languages. For instance, in Japanese, there are a lot of loaned English words and I find their way of pronouncing those words funny.

I would say Korean or Hangul/Hangeul.

I already know some words and phrases but I would want to know more about the language and its grammar. But since I am already studying Japanese, I guess I don't have the luxury of time to study both at the same time.

Hangeul's writing system is also very simple and yet effective one. But the pronunciation is a little bit hard. Especially the "eu" or "eul" sounds.

Nope. I would do my best in teaching my child / children foreign languages especially our national language (well aside from English).

('moshi moshi' doesn't mean 'if if' though)

I remembered my Japanese student describing Nihongo as a language that is dependent on context. Haha A single word may entail different meanings depending on the context.
