That's a tough question since there are so many and so many claims differ. I'd say anywhere from 6,500 - 7,500 languages if you include all the different dialects in and sun-dialects, even contemporary dialects. Its a cool trivial question though!

I was bi-lingual very early in my life. By the age of 6 I could speak good English and Tagalog. Now I'm striving to learn my 3rd language, Spanish.

You won't get the exact translation you want, but it will pretty much give you a gist of whats being said. I think its a great tool to help deal with language barriers and even learning. One good thing to know is Google translate is improving constantly, maybe 5 years from not you'll have a more sophisticated mechanism working Google translate that will give better results.

Oldest language has to be Sumerian. It's origin dates estimates back to the year 2900 BC. Old Chinese didn't exist until 1200 BC, and that's old Chinese, which is barely spoken today.

I've learned a lot of Spanish from the Gypsy Kings and Santana, and who can forget Macarena? I think songs are a useful tool to learn some new words and phrases, but not sufficient practice to learn how to speak a new language of course.

It does make a significant impact especially since accent differ depending on the Spanish country. For example people speaking Spanish in Spain have a completely different accent from people in Mexico. Most Spanish speakers can neutralize their Spanish just like English speakers. Since Spanish is spoke in so many countries its a good idea to familiarize yourself with the accents of different Spanish speaking countries.

Spanish is one of the most widely spoke languages in the world. Whether your in Spain, South, Central or North America, Africa, and even the Philippines, learning Spanish can be a big advantage. If you can speak English and Spanish, you can most probably speak to almost anyone around the world. It's definitely worth your time to learn Spanish.

I actually think Google Translate is a very useful tool, with Spanish you can pretty much understand the meaning of what you input. It's not prefect but its continuously improving. I would not copy paste the translations tough.

This is very true, all major languages sound distinctively different. Some languages however from that have similar origins sound very similar.It has a lot to do with geography and civilization.

It pretty much means the same thing if you ask me. The difference would be sentence use "the most" would be used to when your comparing among other things, it has to do more with rank.  Using most is more general if you ask me.

Yes it is. I'm from Manila, Philippines. It is standard for all schools to teach English through preparatory school, elementary, high-school and some years of collage. After all, it is considered the second language in The Philippines after Filipino.
