Douche bag! It means "someone who has surpassed the levels of jerk and as****, however not yet reached ****er or mother****er" according to urbandictionary.com. It cracks me everytime I hear it in movies.

Part of our new educational system is using one's native language to teach. Kindergarten teachers are mandated to use their dialect to preserve whatever is left with our language.

Bababa. It means to go down. It's one of the easiest Filipino words you can learn. You just have to repeat one syllable and voila!

It comes handy when traveling. Locals respond to you better when they hear you speak their dialect. Even if you do not perfectly utter their words, they acknowledge your effort that they pay it with their hospitality. They become much more welcoming. Other than that, I do not want to restrict myself with just one dialect. There are thousands of languages spoken all over the world, might as well learn a thing or two.

We might as well learn Mandarin for China is becoming a global power.

Of course. It's not how early you try to learn another language. It's how devoted you are to learning. But it sure helps if you start early. :-)

Whenever I try to learn new words, I engage myself in a conversation with the mirror. There was one time when my nephew saw me conversing with myself in the mirror. The look on his face was epic. For once, he thought I lost my sanity (sometimes, I think he's right). My mom talked about it during dinner and she was obviously bothered as well. I explained that I am just learning a new language and that talking to myself in the mirror is one the best way to learn. We had a good laugh over dinner that time.

According to my mom, it was "ma". For sure had my dad been still alive today, he will surely say "pa". There goes another war! Haha.
