  1. Hi! I don't think that's a good idea since the voice and the pronunciation are very dostorted. If you want to learn a language with songs you'll have to do it with very slow songs to get more words. I think it's better to do it through radio podcasts in the language that you want to learn.
  2. I am a normal reader I read a lot but I don't gain velocity... I don't understand it but anyway I'll just keep reading regardless my reading velocity.
  3. I usually write xD since I'm Spanish At Spain we use lol to refer to "League of Legends", a PC game...
  4. I use the OXFORD for Advanced Learners and it's quite useful. It has only the definition of the word in English but not the translation and I think that's a good point.
  5. What I do to learn vocabulary is to read a dictionary of the language I want to learn and then try to make sentences with the words I've just read. For me this is the best way and you don't have to spend so much money for it.
  6. Onomatopoeia in Spanish: perro (dog): guau guau gallo (cock): kikiriki rana (frog): quak quak cabra (goat): beeh beeh gato (cat) : miau vaca (cow): muuu
  7. Hi everyone! I want to start learning Chinese but I don't have much time now. So, I was wondering what time does it take to learn basic Chinese. I want to understand some useful sentences and posters in Chinese. Thanks in advance
  8. My favourite word in Spanish is BERBERECHO lol just becouse it's funny to pronounce it It's usually eaten in appetizers at Spain. (Translation: Berberecho= Cockle)
  9. You could start learning Spanish on the Internet. You could read some pages or view videos in Spanish (with subtitles). Try to translate the words you don't understand and try learn them by making your own sentences. Once you've done that you could try to speak via Skype or something with native Spanish people.
  10. Hi! I'm Spanish and I understant Italian almost perfectly. I can have a normal conversation with people with no problem (I speak Spanish and they Italian). You're right, Italian and Spanish are very similar. The biggest difference is the pronunciation but the rest is almost the same
  11. Hi! What I did to increase my vocabulary was to read a dictionary from the first to the last page. I proposed myself to read 2 pages per day and then try to use them in different sentences and examples. Of course you won't remember each word but you'll learn many words by doing this. It could be a bit boring but it is worth.
  12. Depending on the situation, but in general I like to see well-written words if they can be avoided. I think that native speakers have to avoid them and they could try to correct if they see a mistake somewhere. I think English is an easy language and it's difficult to make mistakes if you're native, but other languages like Spanish that have accents and so on it's harder to write perfectly.
  13. So, appart from the English and German, what other language do you know? I've been told that dreaming in your second language is good for your brain, I can't imagine the effects of dreaming in your third language lol. It's good to see someone that have arrived up to this level. Thanks for answering
  14. Hi everyone! I don't think that's a usual thing but I think it's possible since I have to native languages. I've never reached that level of dreaming lol, but I believe that it could be done. I also know people who have dreamt in their 2n language having only one native language. So, what do you think about it? Is it possible?
  15. It is. In Spain we have to study English until we have 16 years, but I think that we study a very low level of the language at school compared to other countries... I had to study it out of the school because I wanted to know more and more. With the school level you could reach a FCE level after 18 years though.
  16. I wanted to learn English because it's one of the most used languages (written and spoken) in the world. I've been studying it since I was born (almost ) and I don't regret about it. Moreover, I've had some certificates in this language. I use it in my day-to-day life since I'm used to read News from American and British newspapers and I like to watch films on its original language... However, I don't believe it's a must learning language. I could live perfectly knowing only Spanish but I've always liked to study new languages.
  17. Hi! Of course workbooks help you to understand and learn the language you're learnig. The problem is that sometimes we do Workbooks of a lower level and we don't learn anything. At least this is what happened in my school. :wacky:
  18. Spanish is necessary to better understand history and some culture and arts like poetry. I think it's important because all Latin America is expanding and growing very fast and there lives a lot of people, so in a few years there will be lots of people speaking Spanish in developed countries.
  19. I actually have to native languages, but my third language is the English and I started to learn it with 3 years. I was taught by a native American girl and British-English at school. I've been learning it my whole life and I lived in London a couple of years and I'm planning to go to the USA after college. I'm waiting for it!
  20. As I said in my presentation, I'd definitely like to learn Chinese, but I find very different and difficult to learn though... Now I'm trying with French and I find it easy. I want to travel to China and learn the language in its native country and try to speak with native people. I think this is the best way to learn languages, apart from reading books and learning from forums like this
