I have always found music as a really nice way to learn anything really quickly.....so i just hum little tubes in my head on words I want to learn and I find it hard to forget after

I do love non fictional books like biographies. I think that they are really good and informative. Not only that but I have never read a biography and not been inspired so I love that about non fiction books

I could say i understand you in a sense. I think that reading is slightly exaggerated and that there really is no inspiration top grab a book and spend a week of your time trying to get into it. And then there is the audio books that are so tempting

I have never experienced this before and so i have not really ever thought about this. But i have been able to communicate on a higher level of thought with some family in the sense that we have the same thoughts and ideas at the same time. So i think that telepathy in some ways is possible.

Body language is a real major factor and i have personally seen this before where i am in a situation that i had not been able to speak the language and was able to communicate with words and my actions and got my message across even though we dont speak the same language.

I would like to comment on the same thing as i have grown learning the British way of writing and spelling, but recently have been baffled with a lot of American ways to spell and so it makes thing rather hard for me sometimes, but we have to adapt to things eventually and so it is not a really big deal.

I think that it will be interesting to see Thai or Korean on the forum as these are languages that you rarely get to hear of and so it would be nice to get a hold of them in some capacity.

I only know one or two words and there is not a lot that i can say apart from Kunjani. There are a lot of languages in south africa and so it is hard to pick out one and be able to learn the language in a short space of time.

discombobulate - To throw into a state of confusion: is a word that i love to use in casual conversation. It is something that i picked up a long time ago and found it to be really nice and practical for me.

I think the fact these countries share a first language does not make them similar at all. Each of these countries have a culture and also a way they relate to each other and so i think that it is worth putting that into consideration.

My problem would be reading. Now do not get me wrong.....I am a great reader except when it comes to reading out loud. I can read and understand for myself pretty well. but when reading out loud i have to slow it all down so that everyone can understand so i find that messes me up

English is one of the only few languages that is actually backwards....for example most languages would start off with saying car......red. You mention the item and then describe it, but in english you say red car which in a way is backwards.

I have always had english as a first language though im a person that speaks multiple languages and i wanted to find out if there are people out there not like me who have had to learn english after they  had already mastered another language.

I think that if is one of those words that dont have as much impact on a lot of things and so i prefer using the whether as it sounds a lot bigger and has a lot more to it. I would say that you are right that they are interchangeable and so it is natural to want to use either or.

I would say a need is something that is essential to you and your well being and so you need things such as food. Must is more to do with you set a standard for yourself and you aim to achieve it. I must go to the shop would be an example.

I only ever get into the history of the language when it is really too late and i am in too deep in that language. I think that it is safe to say that i learnt other languages because i needed to use them and so as a result never really got into the finer details of the language.

I think that english being as global a language as it is has allowed me to connect with people and cultures that i never thought i would be able to connect with.

My Grand parents speak an african language called chichewa and so they say Amayi for mother and abambo for father which is consistent with your rule of thumb on some of the common letters.

I would not really correct someone for a small mistake like that especially if i am able to understand what they are saying, but i do hate it when some people mess up the entire sentence and make me struggle to read. That is something that i would have to do something about.

I tend to use it as a multipurpose word for describing anything and everything that i like. It has a good connotation and i think that it has not strayed from the meaning too much. It is just overly abused and i think that soon its time will run out.

I think that hoax is a good word, but it is associated with a lot of negativity. In my recent experiences it has been with the death of celebrities being a hoax and for me since then i have associated it with a lot of negativity. But it is just as good a word as any.

I think that the key to learning new words is understanding them fully and really getting to know what they mean. If you know what they mean, then you will know how to apply them and therefore would have memorized it without too much effort.

I think that i would go with what baburra said in the sense that pretty much anything goes and that you would rather focus on what not to say. You could easily say something and some one could get the wrong impression and so i think that it is best to look at the alternative on what not to say

i think that if you have the will and desire to learn numerous languages, i believe that you will do it and it will eventually become effortless as your tongue gets a hang of things

Pros:

- I seem to have an almost-endless supply of motivation.

- I'm a good logical thinker which helps me pick up grammar and notice patterns and

connections, which leads to:

- Good listening comprehension.

- Most of the languages that interest me are closely related.

Cons:

- I really don't pick up pronunciation and accent easily - I have to dedicate lots of

time and attention to it and even after that it's only just passable.

- Despite being fairly extroverted, I'm a bit shy and not amazing at socialising, which

makes it difficult to find opportunities to practice and to get the most out of the

opportunities I do have. I'm working on this of course!

- Lack of free time - I have a busy life so fitting in language study can be difficult.
