  1. If I'm in a hurry to write something, I would probably commit this mistake once or twice, but thankfully I often catch myself before sending the message out. I think this is a little more understandable for people to be confused with than you're and your in some ways.

Yes you will find that many people make a lot of mistakes with these word, even my self. And not only these word but. "his"," Is". Yes it happens all the time.

  2. No Free translation site or application are good, but that's my opinion. I've tested translation sites such as Google Translate with languages I know to find the accuracy of the translation and although there might be the rare occasion when the translation is correct, more often than not, there are huge errors which makes the translation hard to understand.

The only worthy translation sites that are worthy of being used are those you need to pay for. They maintain a higher standard when it comes to translation.

Its great! Because i can talk to my Spanish speaking friend, on fb. i type in what they say.

  3. I wouldn't say that there are languages not worth learning. What I learn is my knowledge earned so even though the chances of using it are low, that doesn't mean that I won't get to use it in the future.

Well Spanish. I live in Jamaica and we have a lot of Spanish hotel opening now. so spanish now . And later Fench and German.

  4. I usually read a book in a new language to find new vocabulary words that I consider they're useful. I often read from the textbook, which will teach me how to learn the basics of the language. Plus, I can watch movies in that language to strengthen my skills.

I would say studying in groups helps me a lot. Choose who you want in your group and have thing to munch on while you study. Trust me it helps.

  5. For me, correct grammar is very important. I see no point in learning things if I won't be able to speak and write correctly later.

I can understand that some quick courses are more focused on quickly gaining the ability to write and speak, but I think that stressing the importance of correct grammar should be a big part of every other language course.

Grammar is important . It helps us to use words correctly. It also helps you to read well .

  6. I'm wondering why people want to learn how to speak Spanish. I want to learn because upon graduation, I will be working in the health care field and Spanish in my area is a very sought after skill. There are plenty of physicians and nurses in my area, but few that can converse in Spanish comfortably and I really want to be the go to person for that!

Spanish sounds like a fun language just listening to it. I recently opened a facebook account and realized that I got two friendly request from two Spanish native speakers from Cuba. Luckily, they also speak English. However, I would so love to speak to them in Spanish just as how they speak to one another in Spanish.

  7. Now days, a second and even third language is essential, and not only in the business world. Spanish should be one of the languages that you learn as you won't get very far in many Central and South American countries without it. I have even been to parts of the United States where Spanish was the predominant language spoken by almost everyone.

Because next to English it is the second most used language in the world . And if you are planning to travel to another country that speak Spanish it would be an asset.

  8. It happens to me once too. I spelt "Doughnut" to "Donnut", which was a big mistake because I didn't usually misspell words. It sure was confusing to me. :(

Haha . I find that to be very funny. Well its how you pronounce you words. I spelt " navel " but because of our Jamaican language we pronounce and spell it incorrectly so instead of "navel" we spell it

"nabel" . That is so funny.

  9. You might have to ask your parents about this, as you probably won't remember

I did not yet ask my parents about it but I guess it must have been something like Mum or Dad..hopefully it was something a little bit more interesting xD  I will ask my parents later today and will let you know. I am excited to hear about your first words :=)

It would also be interesting to hear at which age it actually happened.

Maybe my parents would not even remember, I think my first word would have been.. Dada or Ma .. but this is pretty funny i think

  10. I am very curious because my reading speed is not that great. I would like to know how I can improve my speed for reading.

To improve your reading speed you need to read more often. Read lots of books of different kinds, ,magazines, news papers any and everything. The best time to read is in the night when it is quiet, you will find a peace of mind then. regularly pronouncing your words is also a form of speeding up your reading. People at times tend to let pride take the better of them, you can ask for help from other fluent

    readers.

  11. In our country, even if we uses our native language in school, English is still a major part of our curriculum from pre-school to college. In discussing science, mathematics and technical subjects, we also uses English language and that made us know English even at young age.

How about in your country, is English also part of your education?

Yes in my country English is a part of our education system. All of our schools make English to be the mother language for the country in order for us to sit the CSEC/ CXC  Examinations. It also make us better communicators to the general public and better class room teachers. In schools the English language is taught form as early as four years old to get them equip for the primary and high schools level.

  12. I am totally guilty of this and it's almost a creature of habit now. Sometimes I'm scrolling up in a conversation I am having with a friend and i notice just how many "lol" I use in my sentences. Growing up in the instant messaging generation I have just been so used to it that it is now part of my every day vocabulary. Or when I do not know what to say or how to respond, "lol" seems to be the easiest thing to write. "Lmao" is another word that comes to mind that I seem to spam to my friends.

Well short hand texting or typing is easier , But will affect you in the longer run, especially if you should write a job letter , you might make the mistake to type short hand so its good to spell your words the correct way.lol

  13. I always wonder if people who are foreign think that I have an accent when I speak English. I'm Canadian and there is an obvious English accent when I think of people in other countries speaking it such as in Australia and in Britain. However, I do not think I have an accent when I speak at all. I wonder if Australians or British people for example think us Canadians/Americans carry an accent as well. Or better yet, if they themselves (Australians and the Brits) think they have an accent when speaking.

yes i do have an accent , base on my country Jamaica we speak English and Potois , like we sometimes say in English ( where are you ? ). And in Potois we say.. ( weh yuh deh ?). so when tourist comes to our island its very hard for them to understand what we say. so yes i have an accent.
