  1. Interestingly, computer games, just like other form of media, can contribute in learning a new language. Some of the English words that I don't encounter in English class are often the ones I have learned by playing games. This is why I love playing games with storylines set in Medieval era as I get to encounter old English words and phrases that is not often used nowadays (or maybe still being used in some parts of United Kingdom?). I also use a method of which I call Immersion Gaming for learning Japanese. It is a method which means playing games exclusively in Japanese. I use flash card tools like Kanjibox to learn katakana, kanij and hiragana in order to converse with NPC (AI characters). By doing this, not only do you learn the character but it also help build up your vocabulary in order to follow the cutscenes.
  2. Immersion is definitely the way to go. Also, it is always recommended that you learn the basics first such as learning how to read and write the letters and numbers. Then broaden your vocabulary by learning words and commonly used phrases before proceeding with the grammar. By studying some commonly used phrases, it gives you an idea about the sentence structure of a language.
  3. Hi! I am still studying English as I feel that whatever I know about the language is still just the tip of the iceberg, still a long way to go. I also wanted to learn Nihongo because I like watching Japanese anime, variety shows, films and dramas, but I just never got the motivation to do so, probably because of the fact that fansubs are always there to do the translation for me  . But the past few months the fansub group doing the translation of the variety shows I watch is kinda slow and the episodes are already piling up, and I realized that I can't keep relying on fansubs to do the translation forever and now is the time for me to learn the language. Kinda silly reason to learn a language, isn't it? I look forward to learning about the languages I am interested in and also look forward to learning new ones. Of course, I'll also do my part and contribute on the language I am fluent at.
