ILETS is valid for 2 years also. Some Universities like in Malaysia request you to do another ILETS exam while you are studying after the 2 years expire. I never heard about exam called TOEIC but I will check it out on the internet and fill you in with what I get.

I think the most common words now between friends is Alter or Mensch. I think Atler is usually used by the foreign teens and mensch is like a German slang which both mean dude.

I don't really know the Authors by name but I love the book that I have read that is called Call of the Wild. A huge suggestion for whoever wants to learn English and have a decent amount of English knowledge.

I think the best way to increase vocab is by watching TV shows and reading books. I prefer watching TV than reading books but both really help a lot. Make sure you have a notebook and a pen and whenever you hear a word you don't understand just write it down and translate it later.

How about you teach me German haha. I speak and write English really well but I need to practice my German for my upcoming DSH exam in March  :cry:

When I was in School up to my first 2 semesters in University yes I used to study everything fully in English except Religion class and Arabic. Now that I am in Semester 3 I am studying my classes fully in German and that would be until I finish my Bachelors

I am really bad at writing especially essays just hate them. I even started hating the word. I will check out the link and hope I improve my writing skills xD

It have gotten really better than last year. Before when I used to translate big texts it would give nonsense translations but not I would say it gives 90% correct translation.

When I started learning English yes, but it was in school so I was shy to talk English in front of my friends because they would make fun of me. Later one I just started not to care anymore because the only way I can improve my English is to start talking in English during class. Currently I have the problem in German I am shy talking German to other Germans as I am afraid of making a grammatical mistake.

I read 2 books when I was in school and they were the best yet. One is called Call of the Wild which is a really famous story! And the second one is called Route 66 that talks about how people in USA used the route 66 to get from one part of the country to the other to find jobs and food.

I never studied or tried to learn Dutch but when I fly with KLM the host talks in Dutch which sounds different than German and more to English BUT I can pick out a lot of words from him when he is talking and know the context of what he is talking about.

Before I started learning it yes I did. Everyone kept saying poking fun in German language that it sounds aggressive as Arabic. I started learning German and then I knew it doesn't as everyone used to say. Same thing that they say about Arabic and how aggressive it sounds, I speak arabic aswell and it doesnt sound aggressive

I came to Germany to study Biomedical Engineering so I got admitted in one of the schools that teach German, math, physics so I get the requirements to enter a German University. They gave us intensive teaching every day 3 hours of German and sometimes 6! It helped me a lot really and then I just started reading and watching everything in German which helps a lot too

I used to always get nervous before doing an exam. Doesn't matter which exam i just get a lot pressured before entering an exam and that always makes me do really bad because I am thinking a lot. So now I go with "0 f****s given" and just enter the exam don't care about the results just do my best!

I don't know what is grammatically correct but what sounds good in my ears is Take a bath and Take a shower. I never heard someone saying having a shower, but I have heard "having a bath". It doesn't matter really it makes sense both ways haha

I always thought I am a fast reader untill I did the ILETS exam. When I was doing it I knew how slow I am in reading. I tried to read fast but I would just not understand what I am even reading and that really hurt my mark at the end because I couldn't answer everything fast enough

I only use it when I am texting or typing online. I usually speak proper English most of the time where I live currently because I am in Germany and people tend to not know much of English slang so they wont get what I am saying. So I just stick to proper English and thats better I guess. The less slang the more I improve in speaking

Yes they are. Trust me everything you can read or learn form is useful. Even if it's one word that you have learned from somewhere is useful sometimes. Try Duoling on your phone or you can visit duolingo.com if you want to use it online on your laptop/pc

I'd say go with IELTS. I tried it and got a 6.5 without putting a lot of effort on it. I think you will do great in IELTS. Most universities want 5.5 and 5.5 is a really low mark. Just score really good in Reading and Listning and Speaking and do your best at writing. Writing part is the most annoying and hardest because you have to write perfectly and you don't have a lot of time to put your ideas in order. Good luck

Although probably you'd want wünschen in the present tense, because you're wishing now, not wishing then. Unless you were wishing then, I don't know. and "Als Kind" is "as a kid" kind of like how one would say "Ich bin Amerikanerin" or something of that nature. It's idiomatic. :/

DSH certificate is usually for anyone who wants to get enrolled in a Fachhochschule in Germany and not a University. They are a bit different. Fachhochschule usually focuses on lab work rather than theory. "Theory is good, but Practical is better". If you mean on phone yes. Duolingo is free and really fun. Been using it since 2 months and whenever I have free time I start learning from it You should try it out. It's available on Android and iPhone/iPad
