  2. I have been consistently teaching English as a Second Language(ESL) both man to man and Home-based online to Koreans for almost 5 years now, Taiwanese and also Kurdish as Home-based Online Tutor or Teacher for 3 years now. It's my passion to teach that's why I would like to share to you the effective strategies of teaching English for intermediate. For intermediates we need to focus on their understanding English. First thing you need to do is to test his/ her level, ask him or her basic questions and if he/ she could answer back, but in broken and not so correct grammar that's the time you correct or teach him/her basic form of sentence constructions.Next let him/ her read some simple phrases if he/ she knows how to read, then there's no problem teaching him or her basic grammar. Lastly help him/ her express themselves in speaking and writing asking them all about themselves and their interests and their daily routine in that way they can express themselves based on their own experiences. We should not under estimate intermediate students, the same as beginners we should give them the impression that studying English is easy and fun. Hope that helps you guys who wants to have a career in teaching English to non native speakers. If you have questions and suggestions please feel free to ask me.

I have been consistently teaching English as a Second Language(ESL) both man to man and Home-based online to Koreans for almost 5 years now, Taiwanese and also Kurdish as Home-based Online Tutor or Teacher for 3 years now. It's my passion to teach that's why I would like to share to you the effective strategies of teaching English for beginners. You see teaching beginners need patience and understanding. First thing you need to do is to test his/ her level, ask him or her basic questions and if he/ she couldn't answer back try asking him/ her to read some simple phrases if he/ she doesn't know how to read that's the time you have to use the English Alphabet flash cards. First you have to read first the letter and let him/ her follow after you. In that way she would be getting the right letter and pronunciation. Next thing that you need to do is to guide him/ her in writing "letter of the day" and to think and even draw anything that starts with that letter so that she could work on her imagination, writing and creativity in that way she's already gaining trust in you and gaining confidence in wanting to learn more in studying English, we should not pressure beginner students, we should give them the impression that studying English is easy and fun. Hope that helps you guys who wants to have a career in teaching English to non native speakers. If you have questions and suggestions please feel free to ask me.
  5. Hi! Hope I'm not yet late about giving you advice on how to start tutoring an adult student to get him started for her TOEFL. I have been consistently teaching English as a Second Language(ESL) both man to man and Home-based online to Koreans for almost 5 years now, Taiwanese and also Kurdish as Home-based Online Tutor or Teacher for 3 years now. In my years of doing this it's very important that you do a simple "LEVEL TEST", basic questions would be to ask her to "Tell something about herself", that includes about her age, family, hobbies etc. Since you have been teaching you must take note there are different levels right? Beginner, Intermediate and Advance is the level in studying English. Since you said you need to tutor a student and adult in particular to get her ready for her TOEFL, I can say that her level is intermediate to pre advance. You see TOEFL is a very challenging subject to test your accuracy in English most especially your reading, listening, speaking and writing, so if she would want take up masters and go to the US or other countries it really requires you take up TOEFL test. Hope that helps you and good luck! Here is a link to help your student practice for the TOEFL test. http://www.examenglish.com/TOEFL/
