I wish they add Nihonggo soon! I thought they have it already and I tried switching courses, then I discovered it was Nihonggo to English instead of English to Nihonggo. I almost never made it back to the original settings because all the characters were changed to Kanji! haha

I finished Duolingo Spanish in about 4-6 months. I think the secret is extending your streak to keep you motivated. I was able to achieve 163 days and I did it by playing the app first thing in the morning finishing at least 1 lesson until it became a habit.

Has anyone here finished pimsleur spanish? It's a really good course but my concern is that I think it's too formal for natural conversations? This is what I found at least in pimsleur japanese...

I was able to finish Spanish on Duolingo and still listening to pimpsleur tapes of Spanish. I've also listened to pimsleur japanese but I only got to level 1. Anyway I'm so excited to have found this forum! Lot's of resources and linguaholics!

What is your review of Pimsleur Japanese? I've listened to Pimsleur 1 Japanese, however I don't recognize some of the words being used in regular Japanese conversations... I think the what they use in Pimpsleur is business or formal type of Nihonggo...? What's your opinion?

What top 3 advice would you give to  someone trying to learn a new language? where to start with and what skills to focus on? What would be the 20% that would produce 80 % of the results?

I was able to finish spanish on Duolingo. I've been on and off with it until I decided to really focus and I was able to finish it in a few months. I even got to 150+ streak! Now I just finish one or two lessons a day.

I hope they come up with japanese Duolingo soon! I've been a fan of duolingo but there are no english to  japanese courses as of yet! Hopefully they can add this course soon, I've been wanting to learn nihonggo for a long time!
