  1. I'm actually getting confused now with the book that's why I'm looking for another reading materials. Hahahaha! I love how challenging the chinese language is but it's very difficult. I also think I'm going to be confused when I go to a chinese speaking country that uses the traditional method and not the simplified one.
  2. Fun but Too tricky. Swearing in a second language fun and knowing the bad languages in other language is important to be able to know when a native speaker is angry. It also prevent you from embarrassing moment just in case someone tried to make you say it infront of other people. But it's quite tricky too because bad language has different effect on people depending on how attached hey are to that language. Swearing at me in for example in Chinese wouldn't have the same effect as hearing you swear at me in my own native dialect.
  3. @Wanda The Pinyin table is very useful. Thanks a lot Thinking like a chinese will also help. Don't try to translate everything in your own language and pretend that chinese is the only way for you to express yourself.
  4. Listening to chinese songs is a good way to be familiar how the chinese language sounds. Formally, I started with the four basic tones which should be listened to from time to time. Then with the easiest chinese characters and the msot important for everyday used as numbers and months.
  5. Goodluck to our chinese language studies My tutor required another book which is the New Practical Chinese Reader but I want to check other books and learning tools too to help me. Thank you for all these useful sites.
  6. I'm trying to learn another language in Memrise (French) I think it's a useful site to be familiar with the chinese characters and be able to read chinese on print but if you want to learn how to write, a formal lesson is required as I see when I hired a tutor. The print form and the written form ( as we write in on a paper) is quite different. But I love memrise too although I read somewhere that it's not 100% accurate as anyone can contribute in this site.
